Comment, share and look back in Docs

Comments on the words you mean, every version kept, and who can open each page.

I wanted Docs to be a place where a team works on a page together. Here is how.

Comment on the words you mean

Select some words on a page and choose Comment. Or use the comment button beside a block, or Comment on this page at the bottom. Type @ and a name to bring someone in; they get it in their Activity.

Comments open in a panel beside the page. Reply, then choose Resolve when it's done, or Reopen if it isn't. When the words change, the comment stays with its block, so nothing gets lost.

Look back

Choose History to see every version, who saved it and when. Quick saves in a row make one version. Choose View to read an old one, tick Compare on two to see what was added and removed, and Restore to bring one back. Restoring makes a new version, so you can always undo it.

Choose who can open a page

In an organization, people who arrange Docs choose Share on a page. A page follows its section, or the page above it, until you give it a list of its own: everyone, managers, a team or a person, each able to view, comment or edit. The dialog always says where the list comes from.

Bring in someone from outside

In Share, invite a partner by email to view or comment on one page or one section. They sign in with that email and see only what you shared, labeled as a guest. Guests in Docs on the Docs home lists everyone outside who has access, and you can remove anyone there.

Still stuck

A person on the Hubs team can help. Signed in, open Contact Hubs support from Search or jump. Signed out or locked out, write to us and we will get back to you.

Have an idea, or is something not working? Tell the team in a few words, signed in or not.
