Use your camera and share your screen

Turn your camera on, blur or change your background, and share a screen or window.

In any voice room or meeting, the controls at the bottom turn on your camera and your screen.

  • Turn camera on shows your video. Turn camera off stops it.
  • Share your screen lets you pick a whole screen, a window or a tab. Stop screen sharing ends it.

When several people share

I wanted a few of you to show your screens side by side, so a voice room takes two shares at once and a stage or meeting takes four. If the room is full, Hubs tells you before you pick a screen. Hub staff and meeting hosts can lower the number with Screen share layout and quality in the call tools.

  • Focus shows one screen large. Choose a small one to swap it in.
  • Side by side splits two screens. Grid shows up to four.
  • Pin for you keeps a screen large on your side only. Shared tab audio has its own volume on each screen.
  • Data saver pauses screens you are not looking at.
  • When you share, pick Text and slides for sharp words or Motion and video for smooth playback. Both share up to 1080p, free for everyone.
  • With Motion and video, Try 60 fps makes playback smoother. Hubs starts at 30 fps and moves to 60 only when your device and connection have room, and goes back to 30 if they get busy.
  • On a phone you see one screen at a time. Swipe to move between them.

Stream a game

I wanted going live with a game to take one click, so Stream a game sits in the call controls, in the room's activity row, and in search (type stream, go live or game).

  1. Join a voice room and choose Stream a game.
  2. In the Hubs desktop app, the picker opens on Games: the games running now, the ones you streamed before first. Pick yours and choose Go live. On Windows, Share game sound is on.
  3. In a browser, type what you are playing if you like, choose Pick your game's window, and pick it in your browser's list. The desktop app finds your games for you and shares their sound.

While you stream, your tile shows LIVE with the game's name, the room's row in the sidebar shows a small LIVE mark, and the call bubble says you are live. Everyone else in the call can choose Watch to see it big. The room only sees a well-known game's name or a name you typed, never your window's own title.

Camera background

Open Room options, then Audio and camera settings. Under Camera background, choose Blur, one of the pictures, or Upload image. Your background is made on your own device and never uploaded.

A call, drawn as an example.
