Block someone and choose who can reach you
Block a person, and decide who can send you direct messages.
You are in charge of who can reach you.
Block someone
- Open their profile and choose the … menu, or open your direct message with them.
- Choose Block. In a direct message, open Conversation controls (the shield at the top) and choose Block contact.
Once blocked, they cannot message you, send you friend requests or see your profile. Find and undo blocks in Account settings, then Privacy, then Blocked contacts.
Not ready to block? Mute notifications from this person on their profile quiets them instead.
Who can message you
Open the You menu, choose Me, then Account, and find Who sees your profile.
- Who can message me: Everyone, People in my places (the default), or Friends.
- Friend requests: Everyone, People in my places, or Nobody.
- Block links from people who aren't friends: on for new accounts.
Conversations you already have stay open when you change these.
