Mentions and Activity
How @mentions work, and where replies, mentions and saved messages wait for you in Activity.
Type @ and start typing a name to mention someone. They get a note in their Activity.
- @handle reaches one person.
- @role reaches everyone with that role.
- @here reaches people who are online right now.
- @everyone reaches everyone who can see the channel.
In a community, owners and admins can use all of these. Members can mention people, roles an owner or admin opened to mentions, and @everyone and @here if one of their roles allows it. The suggestions only show what you are allowed to use.
Activity
Activity, the bell, gathers what needs you, so you do not have to check every channel. It used to be called Inbox. Your direct and group messages are in Messages, beside it. Activity has these tabs:
- Mentions and replies: mentions, replies, invites, friend requests, missed calls and other notes for you.
- All unreads: every conversation with something unread, grouped by place.
- Threads: threads you started, replied in or follow.
- Saved: messages you saved for later. Only you see these.
- Drafts: messages you have not sent yet, and scheduled messages waiting to send.
