Search and catch up
Search everything at once, ask for a short answer with sources, and get a summary of what you missed.
Search everything
One search looks through messages, files, docs, list items, events, people, channels and rooms, recordings and their recaps, and these help articles. Results are grouped by kind, with your words marked, and each one opens right where the match is.
- Choose Search everything in the top bar. You can also press Ctrl K (Cmd K on a Mac), type, and press Enter on Search everything.
- Pick where to look: Everywhere, the hub you are in, or its organization.
- Narrow it with the chips, or type a filter.
Filters you can type
- from:@name for one person's messages.
- in:#channel for one channel, or in: and a hub's name.
- has:file, has:link or has:image.
- is:pinned, is:saved or is:thread.
- before:2026-10-01 and after:2026-09-01.
- kind:docs, kind:events, kind:people and the other kinds.
Choose Ask for a short answer written from your results, with a number after each point that opens its source. It only reads things you can open, in one place at a time, and says I could not find this when your results do not answer the question. Ask uses AI, so it works only where the hub has AI turned on.
Search inside one hub or channel
Inside a hub, open Jump to anything and look in Messages, or choose Search messages there for the hub's own search. You can narrow it down with Filters: from a person, after and through a date, has a file, in a thread, mentions me, or one channel.
Or type the filter right in the search box. An empty search lists them under Narrow it down; choose one to add it.
- from:@name: messages from one person.
- in:#channel for one channel, or in:thread for replies in threads.
- has:link, has:image or has:file.
- before:2026-10-01 and after:2026-09-01 for dates, or during:2026-10 for a day, a month or a year.
I made the search box help you finish these. Type from:@ and it suggests people, in:# suggests channels, and has: suggests link, image or file. Use the arrow keys, then Enter or Tab to pick one. You only see people and channels you can already see.
Searches you use often can be saved with a name. Your saved searches also show up in Jump to anything, so you can run one from anywhere. Only you see them.
Catch me up
Been away? When a channel has a lot you have not read, or something that mentions you, a Catch me up button shows in the channel header. It gives you a short summary: what is for you, what was decided, what is coming up and the highlights. Mark as read when you are done.
Want it without asking? Choose Get this daily in the summary, or open Account settings, then Notifications, then Catch up digest. It is off until you turn it on.
