Write and format messages
Send text, files, GIFs and emoji, and add bold, lists or code when you want.
Type in the box at the bottom and press Enter to send. Shift and Enter starts a new line. A message can be up to 4,000 characters.
Add files
Choose +, then Attach files, or drag files into the chat. You can add up to four files to a message, up to 10 MB each. Images, PDFs, text files and zip files work. You can add alt text to images, so people using screen readers know what is in them.
Formatting
Select text to see the formatting bar, or choose +, then Formatting tools. You can also type it yourself:
- Bold with two stars on each side, and italic with one.
- Strike through with two tildes on each side.
- Hide a spoiler between two pipes on each side.
- Code between backticks, and a code block between three backticks.
- Start a line with a dash for a list, or a number and a period for a numbered one.
Ctrl B and Ctrl I (Cmd on a Mac) make text bold or italic.
Emoji, GIFs and stickers
The smiley button opens emoji, GIFs and stickers. Type a colon and two letters for emoji suggestions. A hub's owners decide whether GIFs, stickers and custom emoji are on there.
Send it later
Choose +, then Schedule message to send text at a time you pick, from a minute to 90 days ahead. Hubs sends it even if your app is closed. Find it in Activity under Drafts.
